HAMPTON, VA- Eva Johnson and Xie'Ara Maybank-Smallings are two of eight members of the Elizabeth City State Volleyball team named to the 2008 All-CIAA Volleyball First and Second Teams as announced Monday afternoon.

Elizabeth City State and Fayetteville State, the respective winners for the Eastern and Western Divisions each placed five apiece on the All-CIAA First Team while Livingstone College had two honorees.

Eva Johnson receives the second First Team All-CIAA honor of her career. A native of Havelock, NC Johnson led the Lady Vikings in kills in 2008 and ranks fourth in the CIAA in the same category. Xie'Ara Maybank-Smallings gets the first All-CIAA First team nod of her career after leading the conference in blocks this season.

Also getting First Team recognitions are juniors Ashley Tarasoff and Jennifer Hendy. Tarasoff leads the CIAA in service aces with 82 in this season while newcomer Jennifer Hendy has made an immediate impact for the Lady Vikings as a right side hitter ranking third on the team in kills and second in blocks.

Rounding out the First Team honorees is Cassie Noe, the Lady Vikings' libero. She is the only libero named on the First Team after ranking second in the CIAA in digs with 385 and average of 3.35 per game.

Sophomores Samarri Griffin and Stacie West along with freshman Chelsea Amick were named to the 2008 All-CIAA Second Team.

The 2008 All-CIAA team along with the Rookie and Player of the Year will be announced at the Volleyball Championship Banquet held at the Virginia Air and Space Center in Hampton, VA on Thursday, November 6th at 7:00pm.
