Lady Vikings Volleyball Thrash Bowie State, Monday Evening

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team thrashed Bowie State University, 0-3 (15-25; 17-25; 14-25) Monday evening in the R. L. Vaughan Center.

A lopsided battle in which the Lady Vikings captured consecutive victories in less than 24 hours, ECSU improves to 2-12 overall and 2-4 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; while the Bulldogs fall to 0-11; 0-6 on the season.

Elizabeth City State recorded six kills in each of its three sets played today, with the fewest errors made on the season (13). Senior captain Auzheure’ Jackson led the team in kills with four; while adding two digs and an assist. ECSU had four players with three kills each, seniors Nikuale Singleton and Lauren Burgess and freshmen Jahera Dangerfield and Elizabeth Cagle.

Burgess led the team in assists with 10 and tallied nine digs in the win. Cagle added seven digs; while Singleton added five. The Lady Vikings never trailed in the match. Set two and three was a breeze for ECSU. As a team, Elizabeth City State finished with 18 kills, 15 assists, 28 digs, and two blocks.

Kiana Moore led BSU with four kills, Oladia Menchaca led the team in assists with seven; while Brittainy Houck led the team in digs with nine.

The Lady Vikings are set to travel to Petersburg, Va. to compete in the second CIAA Roundup Saturday, September 30 at Virginia State University.
