Lady Vikings Fall to Chowan, Thursday Evening at Home

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team fell to Chowan University, 0-3 (10-25; 23-25; 14-25) in the R. L. Vaughan Center Thursday evening.

With the loss, ECSU dropped to 0-12 on the season and 0-4 in conference action; while the Hawks improved to 2-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Vikings fell behind quick in the first set 9-1 before regrouping with a timeout. Elizabeth City State added nine more points during the set, to make things interesting. ECSU finished the set with six kills, 10 errors, five assists, and five digs; while Chowan recorded 10 kills, two errors, nine assists, 10 aces, and six digs.

ECSU dropped its second set 23-25 after jumping out to 6-1 lead. The Vikings closed out the set with eight kills, nine errors, eight assists, and 17 digs.

Senior Auzheure’ Jackson and freshman Jahera Dangerfield recorded seven kills each to lead ECSU on the offensive end. Senior Lauren Burgess finished with nine digs and 14 assists.

The Lady Vikings return to action hosting Lincoln (PA) Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Vaughan Center.
