Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC-Virginia Union University spoiled the Lady Vikings’ final home game of the 2015 season with a three set sweep of Elizabeth City State Monday night at the RL Vaughan Center.

Four Lady Vikings, Zhana Winters, Krystal Sawyer, Jasmine Arthur and Emmesha White, played their final game before their home crowd. Unfortunately for ECSU the upstart Lady Panthers would not be denied as they looked to improve their standings in the CIAA Northern Division.

Virginia Union won the three set outing 25-17, 25-8, 25-13 to up their record to 10-12 and 8-6 in conference play.

As a team the Lady Panthers racked up 41 kills versus only 12 hitting errors in the match. Arianna Bethel went for game high 11 kills and 7 digs while teammate Fernanda Faustino turned in a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. Faustino also topped all performers with a match high 5 services aces, two more than ECSU’s team output in the service game.

Emmesha White led the Lady Vikings with 6 kills while freshman Chelsey Elliott chipped in with 5 kills.

ECSU (1-17, CIAA 1-14) will close out the 2015 season on Saturday against Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA. Game time is scheduled for 2pm at Daniel Gymnasium on the VSU campus.
