ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University volleyball team swept the Bowie State University Lady Bulldogs in three games (30-14, 30-17, 30-16) Monday afternoon at the RL Vaughan Center.

With the win ECSU (15-5, CIAA 10-1) retains its stranglehold on the CIAA Eastern Division with an unblemished 6-0 record. They have won 15 of their last 17 matches and are currently riding a 6-game win streak. It also represents their 12th three-game sweep of the 2007 season.

The Lady Bulldogs (8-12, CIAA 6-4) had a negative hitting percentage of -0.54 with 24 kills vs. 29 errors (93 attempts) and had trouble with the Lady Vikings' service game, amassing 18 receiving errors. Bethany Sloat led Bowie State with 8 kills.

Just the opposite , ECSU totaled 35 kills versus only 10 errors and had field day on defense with 11 total team blocks. Christina Hager, who contributed 4 solo blocks and 4 assisted blocks of her own, tied with teammates Eva Johnson and Xie'Ara Maybank-Smallings 8 kills each. Defensively, Cassie Noe finished with a game high 18 digs.

The Lady Vikings will return to action on October 12-13, 2007 as they travel to Shippensburg, PA to participate in a tournament hosted by Shippensburg University. The Lady Vikings will face West Chester on Friday at 5:00pm and will square off against Edinboro and Shippensburg at 10:00am and 12noon, respectively on Saturday.
