Lady Vikings Defeat Lady Falcons; Fall to Bowie State in Extra Innings

PETERSBURG, VA- The Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings split their first two games at the 2007 CIAA Softball Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Petersburg Sports Complex.

In their opening game the Lady Vikings shutout Saint Augustine's College 9-0. ECSU was paced by short stop Shaneetha Holley, who hit her tenth home run of the year while Alicia Graham stuck out eight in the two-hit shut out. In the final game of the day, top seeded Bowie State used an RBI single in the bottom of the 9th to edge ECSU 5-4. The loss drops the Lady Vikings to the loser's bracket in the double elimination tournament and they will square off against Fayetteville State tomorrow at 10:00am.
