LADY VIKINGS/LADY BEARS SPLIT SOFTBALL

RALEIGH, NC-The Elizabeth City State University softball team split a doubleheader with Shaw University yesterday. ECSU dropped game one 3-2 before rebounding to take the nightcap 16-8.

This marks the seventh time this season that the Lady Vikings split a CIAA doubleheader.

In game one the Lady Bears scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally past ECSU 3-2. The first four Lady Bears that stepped to the plate in the 7th all singled to score both the tying and go ahead runs to secure their 14th win on the season. ECSU fell to 9-8 overall with the loss.

In game two, the Lady Vikings woke up their bats as they powered past Shaw 16-8. ECSU scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Lady Vikings, who finished the game with 13 hits, were led by senior outfielder Catashia McCormick who went 2-3 including a home run and 4 RBIs.

The Lady Vikings will return to action on April 14th as they will travel back to Raleigh to face Saint Augustine's College. Game time is scheduled for 1:00pm
