LADY VIKINGS SPLIT WITH SAINT AUGUSTINE'S IN CIAA SOFTBALL DOUBLEHEADER

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Elizabeth City State and Saint Augustine's College split their CIAA doubleheader Thursday afternoon on the campus of Elizabeth City State University. The Lady Vikings toppled the Lady Falcons 9-6 in game one. After trailing 4-0 through the first two and a half, ECSU took the lead for good with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the third. ECSU added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their win streak to five games. In the nightcap, the Lady Falcons snapped ECSU's win streak by scoring runs in each inning en route to a 14-11 victory. Trailing 9-8 entering their half of the fifth, the Lady Falcons rallied past the home team by reeling off three runs from which they never looked back. Maishiyah Brown led the way for ECSU with a combined 6 RBI on the afternoon including a three-run homer in game two. The Lady Vikings (7-9, CIAA 7-5) will return to action Sunday, April 13 when they travel to Petersburg, VA to face Johnson C. Smith University.
