RALEIGH, NC- Winston-Salem State University earned their first shut out of the year as Rams blanked Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon at Walnut Creek Complex.

Chyna Riley picked up the pitching win for the Rams as WSSU captured its fifth consecutive victory. As a team, the Rams scored 14 runs on 13 hits in the game and benefitted from three ECSU fielding errors.

Kambrie Robinson had two of the Lady Vikings’ three hits in two at bats on the afternoon. WSSU raced out to an early 10-0 lead after scoring three in the first and seven in their half of the second inning. They added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth and went on to wrap the game in five innings.

The Rams improve to 15-12 and 4-0 in the CIAA while ECSU slips to 3-10 and 2-2 in conference play.

The Lady Vikings will wrap up the CIAA Softball Roundup tomorrow against Fayetteville State at 11am and Johnson C. Smith at 1:30pm.
