Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- West Liberty State College swept Elizabeth City State University Thursday afternoon in a non-conference softball match-up 13-1 and 14-3 at Lady Vikings' softball field.

In game one junior Amber Rankin pitched 5 and 1/3 innings striking out 12 in route to a 13-1 win. West Liberty State scored runs in all but the 1st and 4th innings. The Lady Vikings lone run came off a solo home run by Maria Bowser in the bottom of the 5th inning.

The Lady Toppers (8-6) wrapped up the doubleheader sweep exploding for 14 runs on 13 hits in a 14-3 victory in game two. West Liberty, who scored in every inning, broke the game open in the 2nd inning reeling of 7 runs to take a commanding 8-0 lead. Bailee Marcum paced the visitors going 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. ECSU committed a dismal season high 10 errors in game two.

The Lady Vikings (1-3) will return to action when they travel to Shaw University on Saturday, March 14. The CIAA doubleheader is slated to begin at 1:00pm in Raleigh, NC. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit
