Lady Vikings Finish Fourth in CIAA Event I

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University bowling team participated in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Event I held by the conference office and hosted by the CIAA this past weekend.

The Lady Vikings went 3-9 on the weekend and finished fourth behind Bowie State University, Virginia Union University, and Virginia State University; with Chowan coming in last place for the tournament in the CIAA Northern Division.

ECSU bowled a total pin count of 9,075 for the weekend. During the team match, the Lady Vikings knocked over 6,134 total pins; while accounting for 2,941 total pins during the Baker’s competition. Two of the team’s victories came during the team competition and the other victory came during the Baker’s competition.

Senior bowler Jana’ Boyd ranked seventh among all participating bowlers with a 182.20 average. She held a total pin count of 1822 in 10 games played.

BSU’s Diamond Carter was named top bowler in the CIAA North by compiling a 197.1 average for the weekend. VUU’s Amaree Durfee averaged a 181.4 to win the CIAA Newcomer Award; while Carter held the Northern Division match high 279 total pin count.

The Lady Vikings are set to compete in the CIAA Event II that will be held in Midlothian, Va. the weekend of January 26-28, 2018.
