ECSU BOWLING COMES IN THIRD AT EASTERN DIVISION MEET III

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Saint Paul's College Lady Tigers posted a perfect 21-0 record over the three days to win the final Eastern Division Meet of the 2007 season. Saint Paul's held off two-time defending CIAA Champion Bowie State University who posted a 12-9 record for the weekend. ECSU came in third at 9-12 followed by Virginia State 9-12 and Virginia Union at 0-21. Despite the matching records, ECSU took third place over Virginia State as the Lady Vikings had a higher pin total of 5565 to 5260. Affa-Shawntae McCray took home team MVP honors for ECSU as she totaled a team best 1241 over seven games bowled, an average of 177. The Lady Tigers' Jessica New( Saint Paul's MVP) topped all competitors with a meet high average of 207 and a total pin count of 1453. McCray and New posted the best scratch game totals of 242 and 235 respectively while the Lady Tigers' Lindsey Bowman rounded out the top three with a 216. Saint Paul's had three bowlers take the top three spots for best overall individual averages with New (207), Bowman (235) and Daria Ruttler (178). All CIAA teams will begin competition on Sunday November 11th at AMF Lanes in Charlotte, NC for to determine the 2007 CIAA Bowling Champions.
