Jana' Boyd and the Lady Vikings finished third at CIAA Event I held in Charlotte, NC November, 13-15.

CHARLOTTE, NC- The Elizabeth City State University bowling team began the 2015-2016 season at CIAA Event I held November 13-15 at AMF Centennial Lanes.

The Lady Vikings placed third overall of the CIAA Northern Division teams with a 7-5 record at the three day event. Virginia State topped the divisional field with a 10-2 mark followed by Bowie State who posted a 9-3 finish.

Fayetteville State won the CIAA Southern Division meet with a perfect 12-0 record.

Jana Boyd put up the best individual performance for ECSU with an average of 170.30 over ten games. She rolled a 193 in the Lady Vikings’ first bye match and went for 191 in both the team’s 805-713 setback to Bowie State and their win against Chowan (724-694). Melissa Borum’s best individual performance of 178 came on Saturday in ECSU’s 711-568 victory over Virginia Union.

The Lady Vikings had the fifth best pin-fall of all ten CIAA schools with a total of 10,364. In Sunday’s Baker matches, ECSU posted a 4-1 record (including a bye) with victories over Bowie State, Virginia Union and Chowan.

ECSU will return to action January 22-24, 2016 at CIAA Event II in Rocky Mount, NC.
