ECSU BOWLING PLACES SECOND AT CIAA EVENT III

FAYETTEVILLE, NC-The Elizabeth City State University bowling team finished in second place overall at the CIAA Southern Division held March 13-15 at B&B Bowling Lanes.

Fayetteville State University hosted the ten CIAA Bowling Teams at the three day event. The Lady Broncos topped the Southern Division while Bowie State University topped all Northern Division teams.

ECSU posted a 9-3 record over the weekend and was the only team to defeat Bowie State by way of an 870-840 triumph on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs finished with an 11-1 record overall while on the Southern Division side Fayetteville State was perfect with a 9-0 record.

Bowie State's Ambrianna Bankston turned in the best individual game of the tournament, rolling a 242 in the Lady Bulldogs' day one matchup against Virginia Union. For ECSU, Melissa Borum posted North's second best single score with a 230 which also came against the VUU Lady Panthers. She rolled another 200+ game in ECSU's day two victory over Bowie State.

Jana Boyd bowled two games of 200+ against Virginia State (224) and Chowan (200).

The Lady Vikings will return to action at the 2015 CIAA Bowling Championship March 20-22 at AMF Western Branch Lanes in Chesapeake, VA.
