NAGS HEAD, NC- The Elizabeth City State University bowling team sits in third place after two days of competition at CIAA Event III held at Outer Banks Bowling Center.

By the close of Saturday’s meet, the Lady Vikings were tied with Chowan for third place amongst the CIAA Northern Division teams. ECSU holds the total pin fall edge over the Hawks 7097-6721 through two days although both squads are tied with 3-9 records. ECSU defeated Chowan 747-666 on Friday but the Hawks avenged loss with a 715-614 win on Saturday.

Before start of the day’s events, head coach Jeremy Williams recognized seniors Jala McLean, Melissa Borum and Kiajuana White who were participating in their final regular season meet in an ECSU uniform. Each of the participating CIAA schools also took time to honor respective senior student-athletes.

Heading into Sunday finale of Baker Matches, Bowie State sits atop the Northern Division standings with a total pin-fall of 8072 and a record of 7-5 followed by Virginia State at 7969 and an overall record of 6-6.

Fayetteville State leads the Southern Division with a record of 8-4 and a total pin-fall of 8034. Virginia State’s Rebecca Clements leads the entire field with an average of 178.22 over 9 matches.

White leads the pack for ECSU at fifth overall, an average of 170.89.

Event III will conclude tomorrow with play scheduled to begin Sunday morning.
