Elizabeth City State Releases Women Basketball Schedule

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University women’s basketball team released its schedule for the upcoming season, featuring 12 home games and a road trip to Florida to face Edward Waters during the Christmas break.

“We are certainly excited and looking forward to playing our competitive schedule this season,” stated ECSU’s head coach Antonio Davis. “From the opening conference challenge until the final regular contest, we feel our schedule will enhance our commitment the improving throughout the regular season.”

Elizabeth City State opens the season on the road against Gannon, November 10 and Cheyney – Nov. 11 in Charlotte at the CIAA/PSAC Challenge before hosting Newport News Apprentice, Nov. 14 for its season home opener and Francis Marion, Nov. 18.

After the short home slate, the Lady Vikings hit the road for their next five games beginning with a pair of contests at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference Challenge (Nov.24-25) in Fayetteville, N.C. before facing Mount Olive, Nov. 30. ECSU travels to Salem, W.V. to compete in the Salem International Tournament (Dec. 9-10) before heading back home to host Bluefield State, Dec. 12.

Elizabeth City State opens conference action on the road at Shaw, December 14 and face Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh on December 16 before the holiday break. ECSU travels to Jacksonville, Fla. to face Edward Waters on December 29 to close out the year.

Following the Christmas break, Elizabeth City State opens a six-game home slate beginning with Livingston (January 4), Johnson C. Smith (January 6), Winston Salem State (January 8), Chowan (January 13), Claflin (January 17), and Lincoln (January 20) before traveling to Petersburg, Va. to take on Virginia State, January 24. The Lady Vikings will travel to face Virginia Union, January 27 before coming back home to host Bowie State for Winter Homecoming (February 3) in the R.L. Vaughan Center.

ECSU travels to Murfreesboro, N.C. to face arch-rival Chowan before traveling to Lincoln (PA) to take on the Lady Lions. The Lady Vikings hit the road to face Fayetteville, February 14 before hosting Virginia State (February 17) and Virginia Union (February 21) for Senior Day.

Elizabeth City State will travel to Bowie, Md., (February 24) before competing in the 2018 CIAA Championship Tourna-ment, which will be hosted again in Charlotte at Bojangles Arena and the Spectrum Center.
