ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Sophomore guard Jalyn Brown recorded a game-high 22 points to lead the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings past Saint Augustine’s University, 57-53 in overtime Thursday evening in the R.L. Vaughan Center.

With the victory, ECSU improve to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; while the Falcons sit at 3-9; 0-1. SAU tied the game at 45-all with .29 remaining in regulations to send the contest into overtime.

ECSU outshot the Lady Falcons 40.7 percent (11-of27) to 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from the field in the first half. In the second half, the Lady Vikings shot 38.1 percent from the field, 25 percent from behind the arc, and 36.4 percent from the line. For the game ECSU shot 40.7 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from downtown, and 56.3 percent from the candy stripe.

Freshman forward Anaya Eason and junior forward Chalise Greenwood added eight points each, respectively in the victory. Senior Jazmine Nixon led all rebounders with eleven boards.

Kaaliya Williams led St. Augustine’s with 18 points and seven boards. Kianna Clark added 16 and Ja’Yon Leak tallied 15 points in the effort, respectfully.
