ECSU Basketball Travels to Virginia Union, Wednesday Evening

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University men’s and women’s basketball teams travel to Richmond, Va. to face Virginia Union University Wednesday, Feb. 15 here on campus in the R. L. Vaughan Center. Tip-off for the women is slated for 4 p.m. and the men’s team to follow.

The Lady Vikings enter the contest 5-13 overall and 3-12 in conference play; while the ECSU men’s team enters Wednesday’s game 2-20 overall and 2-13 in conference play.

Elizabeth City State women’s team is coming off a 55-52 loss to Virginia State University Saturday evening in Ettrick, Va. Senior guard Jalyn Brown paced the Lady Vikings with 16 and was the only ECSU player in double-figures. Junior forward Chalise Greenwood, senior center Jasmine Nixon, and freshman guard Tamara Harvey recorded eight each in the effort, respectfully.

The Vikings dropped a tough one to the Trojans this past Saturday afternoon in Ettrick, Va., 81-42. Senior guard Elon Edwards was the only ECSU scorer in double figures with 19 points and seven boards. Senior forward Jordan Jones had eight in the effort.

The VUU women’s team comes into Wednesday’s game with two losses on the season and is ranked No. 8 in the Nation in Division II basketball with a record of 22-2; 12-2; while the men set at 21-5; 13-1. The women’s team is spearheaded by Brittney Jackson with 18.8 points per game; while the men are led by Ray Anderson, who averages 18.2 points per contest.
