HARVEY RECORDS A CAREER-HIGH IN ECSU LOSS TO FAYETTEVILLE STATE

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Sophomore guard Tamara Harvey recorded a career-high 20 points on 6-of-18 shooting from behind the arc as the Elizabeth City State University women’s basketball team dropped its fifth straight contest, 64-58 to Fayetteville State University Wednesday evening.

With the loss, the Lady Vikings fall to 9-16 overall and 2-11 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; while the Broncos improve to 13-9 and 8-5 on the season.

Elizabeth City State finished the game shooting 26.6 percent from the field, 24.1 percent from behind the arc, and 94.4 percent from the foul line; while FSU closed out the game shooting 43.3 percent from the floor, 26.7 percent from downtown, and 50 percent from the candy stripe.

Senior guard Jalyn Brown recorded 13 points; while senior forward D’Asya Wilson added 12 boards to lead ECSU defensively in the effort. Junior forward Alexis Fowler and sophomore forward Devona Stell tallied eleven rebounds.

For Fayetteville, Breona Jones led the way offensively with 20 points; while Courtney Best added 17 in the victory.

Elizabeth City State is set to host Virginia State University Saturday, February 17 in the R. L. Vaughan Center for a CIAA Showdown. Game time is set for 2 p.m. for the women’s contest and 4 p.m. for the men’s game.
