Lady Vikings Seek First Road Win in Conference Play at Virginia State, Saturday Afternoon

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University women’s basketball team will travel to face Virginia State University in Ettrick, Va., Saturday, Feb. 11 at the VSU Multipurpose Center, after a 66-60 victory over Lincoln Wednesday evening in the Vaughan Center. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.

ECSU stands at 5-16 on the season, 3-10 in league play. Against the Lady Lions, sophomore guard Jalyn Brown recorded 21 points and tallied three assists to pace the Lady Vikings offensively; while senior center Jasmine Nixon scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Junior forwards Chalise Greenwood and D’Asya Wilson both added eleven points on the evening.

Brown spearheads the team with 12 points on the season; while Nixon adds 7.9 boards per contest.

The Trojans enter the contest 16-7 and 8-5, following their 75-62 victory over Chowan University Wednesday evening. VSU was led by Nandi Taylor against the Hawks with 25 points. She also averages 17.1 points per game, leading the Trojans offensively and defensively with 3.8 boards per contest.
