ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. -- The Elizabeth City State University women's basketball team suffered a tough 57-49 loss to Lin-coln (PA) University Saturday in the R. L. Vaughan Center in its second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Northern Division matchup.

The Lady Vikings fell to 7-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play; while the Lions improve to 12-4 and 7-1 on the season.

ECSU jumped out to a 21-7 lead to close out the first quarter and took a 32-25 lead into the half. During the third quar-ter, the Lady Vikings struggled making only to shots from the floor to record six points; while LUPA tallied 14 in the quarter to take a 39-38 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Elizabeth City State shot 16.7 percent from the floor, 10 percent from behind the arc, and 50 percent from the candy stripe during the second half; while Lincoln shot 39.3 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from downtown, and 66.7 percent from the foul line.

For the game the Lady Vikings shot 29 percent from the field, 10 percent from behind the arc, and 58.3 percent from the foul line; while the Lions shot 32.8 percent from the floor, 27.8 percent from downtown, and 69.2 percent from the candy stripe.

Sophomore forward Devona Stell led ECSU with eleven points and nine rebounds; while senior forward Tantania Brown recorded a career-high 10 points and hauled in five boards in the effort. DeeDee Irwin recorded a game-high 19 points to lead all-scorers and Lincoln.

Both teams are scheduled to travel to Virginia State University Wednesday, Jan. 24 in the VSU Multipurpose Center. First game is slated for 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
