Lady Vikings Gear Up to Host Virginia State, Saturday Afternoon

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University women’s basketball team are geared to host Virginia State University Saturday, Jan. 21 in the Vaughan Center, after an 86-42 defeat to Lincoln (PA) Wednesday evening in Rivero Hall. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.

ECSU stands at 4-10 on the season, 2-4 in league play. Against the Lady Lions, junior center Tantania Brown paced the Lady Vikings with eleven points and nine boards, respectively. Junior forward D’Asya Wilson added ten points and five boards in the effort.

Overall, ECSU averages 43.6 points per contest; while shooting .327 percent from the field, .215 percent from down-town, and .571 percent from the free-throw line. The Lady Vikings opponents averages 55.7 points per contest and shoots .374 percent from the floor, .300 percent from behind the arc, and .656 percent from the line.

In the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Elizabeth City State averages 44 points per contest; while shooting .316 percent from the floor, .269 percent from behind the arc, and .605 percent from the foul line. The Lady Vikings are getting outscored by its opponents by a margin of 20.2 points per game.

The Lady Trojans enter the contest 11-6 and 3-4 in conference play after falling 64-55 to Chowan Wednesday evening on ESPNU. VSU is spearheaded by Tierra Richberg, who averages 19.0 points per game as well as tallies eleven boards per contest.
