Lady Vikings Travel to Lincoln (PA) for Matchup with the Lady Lions, Wednesday

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University women’s basketball team will travel to face Lincoln University (PA) in Lincoln, Pa., Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the Helms Center, after a 66-36 defeat to Chowan University. ECSU stands at 4-9 on the season, 2-3 in league play. Against Chowan this past Saturday evening, sophomore guard Jalyn Brown paced the charge for the Lady Vikings with nine points on 3-of-11 shooting from the field and 2-of-3 shooting from downtown.

Junior guard Ty’Ais Cooper led Elizabeth City State on the boards with six; while freshman guard Tamara Harvey and junior guard Takeyria Thomas both added five in the effort.

The last meeting between the two teams back on February 10, 2016, the Lady Lions defeated ECSU, 70-63 in Lincoln. Overall, Elizabeth City State is shooting .329 percent from the field, .217 percent from behind the arc, and .561 from the line; while its opponents are shooting .363 percent from the field, .281 percent from downtown, and .661 percent from the foul line.

Teams are averaging 53.4 points against an ECSU team that’s only averaging 43.8 points per contest. In conference play, the Lady Vikings are averaging 44.4 points a contest and are shooting .320 percent from the field, .284 percent from behind the arc, and .581 from the candy stripe. Conference opponents are averaging 59.8 points per game and are shooting .384 percent from the field, .315 from long distance, and .759 percent from the foul line.

The Lady Lions enter Wednesday’s contest 4-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play after falling to Bowie State University, 53-45 Saturday afternoon in Bowie, Md. She’cquan Bailey spearheads Lincoln’s offense averaging 9.8 points per contest and averages 5.3 rebounds a game. Diamond Mickle also adds 5.3 boards per contest.
