Lady Vikings Host Rival Chowan Saturday for CIAA Northern Division Play Opener

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – After defeating Winston-Salem State University Monday evening 65-46, the Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings look to open its Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Northern Division home opener hosting rival Chowan University Saturday, Jan. 13 in the R. L. Vaughan Center at 2 p.m.

The Lady Vikings are led by senior captain Jalyn Brown, who averages an impressive 17.3 points per game; including 2.8 boards per game. Three-time CIAA Player of the Week Devona Stell averages 15.2 points per game; including 9.6 boards per game and 10 blocks on the season for ECSU.

The Lady Vikings are outscoring their opponents 63.8-61.5 (+2.4 scoring margin) points per game, hold a plus 6.5 rebound margin over their opponents, and is -2.1 in turnover margin. Elizabeth City State averages 14.6 assists per game; while its opponents average 12 per game.

Thus far in conference action, ECSU are plus 4.3 in scoring margin, plus 10.3 in rebounding margin, and negative 2 in turnover margin. The Lady Vikings dish out more assists than it opponents, (15.0 - 11.7) per game.

Brown leads the team in conference action averaging 18 per game; while Stell averages 12.7 per game; including nine rebounds per.

The Hawks have four of their starters averaging double-figures in scoring. Dhymond Crenshaw leads the team with 17.8 per game; while Danielle Weldon averages 11.2 per game, Mariah Coker averages 12.8 per game, and Chantel Roberts averages 16.5 points per game; while averaging a team-high 9.3 boards per game. The team is currently ranked fifth in the CIAA North; while ECSU sets at sixth in the division.
