Daphnie Johnson joined the Vikings in August 2017 as assistant women's basketball coach and now fulfills the role of Interim head men's & women's cross country coach and senior woman's administrator.

Prior to joining Elizabeth City State University, Johnson served as an ELA teacher at Jefferson Davis Middle School, Jacksonville, Fl., head coach/director of the W.P. Celtics AAU Travel Basketball Organization (Atlanta, Ga. & Jacksonville, Fl.) for fifteen years, Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach at Westside High School, Jacksonville, Fl., Head Coach Girls' Basketball at her Alma Mater, Eastside High School, Gainesville, Fl. where she amassed a record of 102 wins 23 losses, 2005 5A Florida State Runner-Up, 5A District 4 League Champions and 5A Regional Champions.

Coach Johnson served as assistant coach at Saint Augustine's College, Raleigh, NC. under head coach Antonio Davis and at Eastern Florida State College, Melbourne, Fl.

Coach Johnson played collegiate basketball at Morristown College, Livingstone College and Elizabeth City State University, respectfully. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Organizational Management.
