ECSU's William White has been named to the 2015 CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team

HAMPTON, VA- Elizabeth City State University's William White has been named to the 2015 CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team as released by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

William White just wrapped the 2014-2015 season as one of the conference's top golfers. He nabbed All-CIAA and All-Tournament honors as the low medalist at this year's CIAA Golf Championship where the Vikings finished in third place. At ECSU's post season awards ceremony, White was honored as the Viking Male Athlete of the Year, golf team MVP and sporting a GPA 3.875, received the Chancellor's Scholar (Male) Athlete of the Year award.

An accounting major who hails from Elizabeth City, NC, White finished 13th overall in a field of 34 individual competitors at the PGA Minority Golf Championship held earlier this month in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

The 2015 CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team consists of 20 male and 20 female student-athletes, as voted on by the CIAA Sports Information Directors' Association. The All-Academic Teams is divided into two groups, First Team and Second Team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at a CIAA institution, have a minimum grade-point-average of 3.20 (on a 4.0 scale) and must have competed as a starter or important reserve in a CIAA sanctioned sport (men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, women's bowling, football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track & field (indoor and outdoor), softball, baseball, men's golf, and men's and women's tennis).

Cassandra Clayborne of Bowie State University and Juan Sanchez of Shaw University were named the Female and Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, respectively.
