ECSU Golf Suffers Tough Round to Fayetteville State at the 2017 ECSU Spring Round-up

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University golf team suffered a tough round to Fayetteville State University Saturday afternoon in the 2017 Elizabeth City State University Spring Round-up at The Pines Golf Course.

The Vikings as a team struggled to relax on the par 72, 6682-yard course, shooting a 404 on the day, (+116) through 18 holes; while the Broncos completed their day shooting a 319 as a team and finishing the round with a +31.

Isaiah Shaw led the way for Fayetteville, shooting a 76 (+4) for the round. Shaw shot a 36 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine to tie with ECSU’s Tyler Futrell, who also shot a 76 (+4) for the round. Futrell won medalist, ending the day shooting a 38 on the front and back nine.

Taylor Guarracino finished the day sixth, shooting a 92 (+20) for the round; while William Fallon placed seventh, shoot-ing a 96 (+24). Drew Turnage finished ninth, shooting a 140; while Dwayne Ponton finished tenth shooting a 144 to round out the ECSU golfers.

The Vikings will host Fayetteville State again on Sunday, April 9 at 8:30 a.m. in the 2017 ECSU Viking Challenge at The Pines Golf Course in Elizabeth City.
