Men’s Golf Finishes Second at Falcon Fall Shootout

CLAYTON, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University men’s golf team finished second in the Falcon Fall Shootout at the Par 71, 6508 yards Pine Hollow Golf Course.

This was the first second place finish for the Vikings in four years. Only Livingston College finished ahead of ECSU after shooting a +33 during Thursday’s round. As a team, Elizabeth City State shot 339 (+55) for the round and was led by senior captain Tyler Futrell, who capped the round tied for sixth place with an 80 (+9) over par.

Sophomore Alex O’Conner shot an 81 during the round and finished eighth out of the 25 golfers participating; while junior golfer Taylor Guarrancino placed 14th and closed the round out shooting an 87 (+16) on the day.

Juniors Will Fallon and Drew Turnage rounded out the Viking golfers finishing 17th and 21st shooting a 91 (+20) and a 132 (+61).

Saint Augustine’s shot a 342 (+58) and finished third, Johnson C. Smith didn’t finish as well as Johnston Community College did not finish.
