ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University golf team finished in first place at the ECSU Golf Invitational held Monday at The Pines-Elizabeth City.

The Vikings earned the victory in a four team field that featured Virginia State University, Virginia Union University and Saint Augustine’s University. ECSU captured a three stroke victory with a score of 337 over Virginia Union who finished with a 340. Virginia State placed third with a 401 followed by Saint Augustine’s at 477.

Four ECSU golfers finished in the top seven in Monday’s field with Tyler Futrell topping the Vikings with a team best 82 (+10) to place third individually. William Fallon came in fourth with an 84 while Taylor Guarracino tied at fifth place (Alex Kosh, Virginia State) with a score of 85. Curtis Vinson took the seventh slot with an 86.

Virginia Union also had four players finished near the top of the field. The Panthers were led by teammates Bart Kaminski and Joshua Mohun who tied for first overall with a 79 (+7). Brandon Bailey and Austin Haynes grabbed the eighth and tenth spots, respectively.

Fayetteville State University will join the field tomorrow for the ECSU Spring Roundup. Tee time is scheduled for 10am at The Pines.
