ECSU GOLF FINISHES SIXTH AT CIAA WESTERN DIVISION MEET

CLAYTON, NC- The Elizabeth City State University golf team placed sixth overall at the 2009 CIAA Western Division Event held at Pine Hollow Golf Course March 9-10th. The Vikings finished with a two-day team total of 821 at the two-day event hosted by Saint Augustine's College. Scott Forbes shot an individual best 172 for ECSU. Behind the a meet best 144 performance from Chip Lynn, the Fayetteville State Broncos finished in first place with a combined team score of 605. Virginia State came in second at 622 followed by Saint Augustine's (671), Virginia Union (724), Johnson C. Smith (737) and ECSU. The Broncos' Kevin Lyles finished two strokes behind his teammate with a 146. Greg Hunt of Virginia State rounded out the top three individual finishers with a 150.
