HAMPTON, VA- Defensive lineman Malcolm Jenkins has been named the 2010 CIAA Defensive Player of the Year as voted by the CIAA Football Coaches Association.

Jenkins who was named to five different 2010 preseason All-American teams after an outstanding junior campaign, made good on the predictions in his final season in a Viking uniform. His sack total ranks second in NCAA Division II while he places 9th overall in the nation in tackles for loss.

While Jenkins was the only Viking on the All-CIAA First Team, seven of his teammate where tabbed as All-CIAA second team performers. They include seniors Karvin Gwaltney (Tight End), T.J. Jones (Center), Dexter Manley (Wide Receiver) and Terry Griffin (Defensive Tackle). Junior honorees include quarterback Creven Powell and Billy Wiggins who made it as a kick returner. Daronte McNeill, one only four sophomores to make the First and Second Teams combined, was voted at the tailback position after breaking for the Vikings' first 1,000 yard season since 1994. He was one of only three CIAA backs to rush for over 1,000 yards in 2010.
