HAMPTON, VA- Five members of the Elizabeth City State University football team have been named to the 2007 All-CIAA First and Second Teams as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Seniors Jeremy Carthen, Greg Moore and Justin Hamilton all received Defensive First Team honors. Carthen a native of Red Springs, NC finished second in the CIAA in tackles this season with 91 (33 solo, 58 assisted) including 11 tackles for a total loss of 20 yards and three interceptions. Greg Moore, who hails from Wallace, NC receives First Team honors after being tied for second place in the CIAA in sacks (8 sacks for a loss of 60 yards) and 5th in tackles for loss. Justin Hamilton is one of four underclassmen (3 sophomores and one freshman) who garnered first team honors. The Washington, DC native is tied for first in the CIAA in interceptions with 4 picks returned for 20 yards and totaled 9 pass breakups good for 2nd in the CIAA.

After garnering Pre-Season All-CIAA nods for 2007, both Brandon Fields and Shawn Dickerson have been named to the 2007 All-CIAA Second Team for Offense and Defense, respectively. Fields averaged 4.1 yards per carry in 2007 and finished 2nd in the CIAA in rushing with 770 yards from scrimmage. He carried the ball more times than any other running back this season (186) and ranked 5th in all purpose yards. Richmond, VA native Shawn Dickerson finished the year with 70 tackles (3rd amongst the Vikings) as ECSU's starting strong safety. He ranked 13th overall in the conference in tackles, had a sack for a loss of 10 yards, intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles in 2007.
