ECSU Football Routs Lincoln (PA) on Homecoming

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Elizabeth City State University football team routed Lincoln University (PA) Saturday evening in Roebuck Stadium for its 2017 Homecoming, 56-18.

The Vikings improve to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association; while the Lion falls to 0-7; 0-4 on the season.

ECSU jumped out to a 21-0 lead after recording scores on a 17 yard pass from senior quarterback Daquan Neal to junior wide out Dajuan Greene; an eight yard run up the middle that turned into a score; and a 57 yard run up the gut from Neal that was recorded as a score for the Vikings.

The Lions got on the scoreboard with a 23 yard field goal from place kicker Cody Waddell with 9:51 left in the first half.

Senior running back Deshon Saunders, junior running back Victor Greene, and senior defensive back Davion Council each caught touchdown passes from Neal adding to the 49-3 lead.

Council recorded an 89 yard kick off return with 10:31 remaining in the contest to put a dagger in the Lions chances of formulating any type of come back.

The Vikings finished the game with 445 yards of total offense in 62 snaps; while giving up 343 total yards to LU.

Neal finished with 204 yard through the air; while connecting on 15 of his 20 attempts, including four touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Elizabeth City State returns to action next Saturday when they face Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C. at 1:30 p.m. in Garrison Stadium.
