Coach Waverly Tillar and the ECSU Vikings were picked to finish second in the CIAA Northern Division at the annual football media day on Thursday morning.

DURHAM, NC- The CIAA Football season officially kicked off with the 2014 Football Media day held at the Durham Marriott City Center Thursday morning.

The 2014 Pre-Season All-CIAA Team and Predicted Order of Finish (overall) as voted on by the CIAA Football Coaches Association was released. Winston-Salem State (South) and Virginia State (North) picked to repeat atop their respective divisions.

The Vikings were picked to finish second in the CIAA North and fifth overall behind WSSU, Fayetteville State (#2, South), Virginia State and Shaw University (#3, South).

Antonio Huff and Corey Davis were both voted to the Pre-Season Football team. Huff, a junior who hails from Washington, DC landed on the team as both a kick and punt returner. Last season Huff was an All-CIAA Second Team selection as a punt returner and at wide receiver led the Vikings in receptions with 44 catches and three touchdowns. Corey Davis, a senior defensive back from Union, NJ led ECSU in interceptions (3), pass breakups (14) and finished the year with 46 tackles (33 solo).

If the coaches' votes hold form, the CIAA North will be Virginia State, ECSU, Bowie State (6thoverall), Chowan (8th overall), Virginia Union (10thoverall) and The Lincoln University (12th overall).

In the South the predicted order is Winston-Salem State, Fayetteville State (2nd overall), Shaw (4th overall), Johnson C. Smith (7th overall), Saint Augustine's (9th overall) and Livingstone (11th overall).

The Vikings will begin the 2014 campaign on September 6 against North Carolina Central in Durham, NC.
