VIKINGS TAKE SEASON FINALE 36-6 OVER LINCOLN UNIVERSITY

WEST GROVE, PA- The Elizabeth City State University football team ended the 2010 season on a high note, defeating Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 36-6 at Avon Grove High School.
ECSU closes out 2010 at 6-4 overall and 5-2 in the CIAA.
From the start the Vikings quickly went to work in spoiling the Lions' Senior Day when Billy Wiggins took the opening kickoff back 75 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead after Devon Pike's extra point. Then on the Lion's first play from scrimmage, Nigel Rios picked off the first of his two interceptions and three plays later Creven Powell connected with Dexter Manley on a 48-yard touchdown strike and a 14-0 advantage.
Even miscues bounced the Vikings' way in the first half. What was meant to be a 23-yard field goal attempt by Pike turned into ECSU's third TD of the afternoon when Rios took a high snap in from 6 yards out and the Vikings led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Ranier Rackley and Cedric Blacknall each added rushing touchdowns in the second quarter for a 36-0 ECSU halftime lead. A botched extra point attempt following Blacknall's score was converted into two points when Rio's found Malcolm Jenkins in the end zone on a short pass.
The Lions narrowly escaped a shutout when Laquan Williams' 1-yard rushing touchdown (extra point failed) capped a 9 play, 64 yard drive with 8:48 left in the game.
