Coach White is entering his eighth season with the Vikings and his sixth year as the Defensive Coordinator. In his last five seasons at the helm, White's "Blue Swarm" defenses have continued to dominate on the field and in the Division II national statistical rankings.

In 2006, the "Blue Swarm" defense shut out four opponents and held six opponents to seven points or less. They were ranked 5th in scoring defense, 2nd in turnovers gained, 5th in interceptions, and 4th in fumbles recovered nationally. They returned in 2007 yielding just 234 per game to rank 4th nationally in total defense, and allowed only 15 points per game to rank 6th nationally in scoring defense. In the last two seasons the "Blue Swarm" defense has forced 69 turnovers, averaging 3.1 per game.

Prior to coming to ECSU, Coach White was the Assistant Defensive Line Coach at Hampton University for three seasons. While at Hampton, White was part of two MEAC Championships, one SBN Championship, and one Heritage Bowl Championship.

A native of Hampton, VA, White is a graduate of Kecoughtan High School where he was a two-sport athlete in wrestling and football. After high school, he received a football scholarship to attend Towson State University. Upon the completion of his sophomore year, White transferred to Hampton University where he finished his playing career with the Pirates in 1997. He received both his BA and MA from Hampton in Political Science (1998) and Counseling (2000), respectively.

White is a life learner who is always looking to increase his knowledge and exposure. Last June, White was among 30 participants selected to participate in the NCAA Men's Football Coaching Academy. In 2008, he wrote an article published in the May edition of the American Football Monthly magazine.

Since Coach White's first season as Defensive Coordinator, he has accomplished the distinguished feat of having twenty-one defensive players earn All-CIAA honors, and three earn all American honors. Coach White prides himself in being a teacher and looks forward to continuing his development of the Vikings in 2008.

Although White is aware that replacing key losses from the 2007 team will be difficult, he has confidence that the combination of experienced returnees and talented newcomers will rise to the challenge. The 2008 Viking defense returns five starters from last year's team, and several experienced lettermen. White will enter the upcoming season instilling in his players that "a man does not determine his future; he determines his habits and his habits determine his future.".
