Vikings Face Virginia State on ASPiRETV, Saturday Afternoon in Ettrick

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – After coming off a strong performance and 68-66 victory over Lincoln (Pa) Wednesday evening, the Elizabeth City State University men’s basketball team travels to Ettrick, Va. to face Virginia State University on television Saturday, Feb. 11 in VSU’s Multipurpose Center.

Tip is set for 4 p.m. at the Helms Center, with Stan Lewter and Scott Przwansky handling the ASPiRE TV Network broadcast. The game can also be heard on theVSU radio network here: .

ECSU stands at 2-19 on the season, 2-12 in league play. Against the Lions, senior guard Jordan Jones paced the Vikings with 13 points and six boards. Senior guard Elon Edwards added eleven points; while senior forward Javonte Miles, junior guard Tioreon Land, and freshman forward John Maynor tallied 10 points each, respectively.

Edwards leads the Vikings offensively with 13.6 points per game; while Jones leads ECSU with 5.6 boards.

The Trojans enter the contest 19-4, 11-2, following their 62-56 victory over Chowan University, Wednesday evening in the Helms Center. Richard Granberry paces the Trojans, averaging 15.1 point pers contest as well as leads the team in boards with 7.9.

THE PREVIOUS MEETING: Virginia State defeated ECSU 77-71 the last time these two teams faced each other back in January at Elizabeth City State.

COACHES: Lue Grimsley is in his first season as Interim Head Coach at ECSU and in collegiate athletics.

Lonnie Blow is in his fourth season with the Trojans and owns a 65-31 ledger. Overall, he’s 137-58 in six and a half years.
