Vikings Basketball Set to Face Lincoln (Pa), Wednesday

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University men’s and women’s basketball teams are slated to host Lin-coln (Pa) in the R.L. Vaughan Center Wednesday, Feb. 8.

Women’s game tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m., with the men to follow. The Lady Vikings enter the contest with a 4-15 overall record and a conference record of 2-10; while the men sit at 1-19 and 1-12. Lincoln women come into Saturday’s contest 6-16 overall and 3-9 in conference action; while the Lions are at 7-15 and 5-7.

The Lady Vikings fell 66-51 to Chowan University at home Saturday afternoon; although, ECSU was led by junior guard Chalise Greenwood with 14 points off 5-of-12 shooting and eight boards. Sophomore guard Jayln Brown pace the Lady Vikings with 11.5 points per game.

The men’s team fell 79-65 to the Hawks and is still looking to capture their second win on the season. The Vikings are paced by senior guard Elon Edwards, who has been on a tear lately. Edwards averages 13.7 points a game and leads the team with 57 assists.

In the paint, senior forward Jordan Jones has been dominate, averaging 11.8 points per game and leading the team with 111 boards on the season. Freshman forward John Maynor is also averaging points in double-figures with 10.9.

The Lady Lions are coming off a defeat to Bowie State University and is spearheaded by the play of She’cquan, who averages 10.6 points per contest. The Lions were defeated by the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon and they are led by Joshua Davis, who is averaging 13.4 points per game.
