Vikings Fall to Winston-Salem State at Home, Wednesday Evening

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University men’s basketball team fell 83-76 to Winston-Salem State University in the R.L. Vaughan Center Wednesday evening.
With the loss, ECSU falls to 1-18 on the season and 1-11 in conference play; while WSSU improves to 9-12; 5-7.
The Vikings played from behind the entire game; although, shooting 28-of-53 (52.8%) from the field, 9-of-21 (42.9%) from behind the arc, and a season-high 11-of-12 (91.7%) from the foul line.
Winston-Salem took a 10 point lead into the half, after shooting 57.7 percent from the field, and 40 percent from downtown, and 83.3 percent from the line.
Senior guard Elon Edwards paced ECSU with 24 points; while senior forward Jordan Jones recorded 19 with a team-high five boards. For the Rams, Robert Colon led the way with 26 points; while William Crandell added 13, rounding out the scorers in double-figures.
WSSU out-rebounded the Vikings 24-21; while ECSU recorded 20 turnovers.
The Elizabeth City State men’s and women’s basketball team will host Chowan University for its Coaches vs Can-cer/Sneaker and Suit game Saturday, Feb. 4, with the women’s game slated for 2 p.m. It’s also ECSU’s Winter Homecoming.
