Vikings Look to Capture First Victory at Lincoln (PA), Wednesday

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – After falling 79-77 to Chowan University Saturday afternoon in Murfreesboro, the Elizabeth City State University men’s basketball team is set to face Lincoln (PA) Wednesday evening in the Manuel Rivero Gymnasium.

ECSU stands at 0-12 on the season, 0-5 in league play. Against the Chowan, senior forward Jordan Jones recorded a game-high 24 points and nine rebounds in the effort. Junior forward John Maynor recorded 16 points, senior guard Elon Edwards tallied 12; while junior forward Kyree Marshall scored 10 to round out the double-digit scorers for ECSU.

The Lions enter the contest 5-11, 4-3, following their 67-62 victory over Bowie State University, Saturday afternoon in Bowie, Md. Joshua Davis averages 13.1 points per game to lead Lincoln offensively and tallies 7.8 boards per contest to lead the team on the defensive end.

In conference play, ECSU has four scorers in double-figures with Edwards leading the charge averaging 13.4 points per contest; while Jones averages 11.2 points per game. Maynor and Marshall add 10 points per contest rounding out the double-figure scorers. The Vikings are shooting .405 percent from the field, .317 percent from downtown, and .733 percent from the line.

Overall, the team is shooting .410 percent from the floor, .286 percent from downtown, and .659 percent from the foul line. Teams are shooting .471 percent from the field, .345 percent from behind the arc, and .738 from the candy stripe against the Vikings.

This will be the last of Elizabeth City State three-game road skid before coming back home to host Virginia State University Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Vaughan Center.
