Vikings to Face Chowan on ASPiRETV, Saturday Afternoon in Murfreesboro

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – After suffering a 72-68 setback to Livingstone College last Saturday afternoon, the Elizabeth City State University men’s basketball team encounters its first true road test of the season when it travels to Chowan University on Saturday.

Tip is set for 4 p.m. at the Helms Center, with Stan Lewter and Scott Przwansky handling the ASPiRE TV Network broadcast. The game can also be heard on the Chowan radio network here: and fans can view live stats here:

ECSU stands at 0-11 on the season, 0-4 in league play. Against the Blue Bears, senior guard Elon Edwards and freshman guard Shyhied Petteway paced the Vikings with 14 points each, respectively. Senior forward Kyree Marshall added 13 points; while senior forward Jordan Jones tallied six boards.

The Hawks enter the contest 9-3, 3-1, following their 98-65 victory over Salem International University, Wednesday evening in the Helms Center.

THE SERIES: Chowan leads the all-time series 10-8 dated back to the 2007-08 season and has won the past five meetings dated back to Feb. 8, 2014.

COACHES: Lue Grimsley is in his first season as Interim Head Coach at ECSU and in collegiate athletics.

Brett Vincent is in his fifth season with the Hawks and owns a 62-61 ledger. Overall, he’s 161-129 in ten and a half years.
