Cleveland Blount will be entering his sixth year on the men's basketball staff at Elizabeth City State University. In addition to his assistant coaching duties, Blount also serves as the academic coordinator for the Vikings. Coach Blount is a 1968 graduate of Elizabeth City State with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. In 1991 he obtained his Masters of Arts in Adult Education from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. A lifetime educator, Coach Blount retired from Roanoke-Chowan Community College in 2004. During his tenure at Roanoke-Chowan he founded the basketball program in 1991 and would go onto coach the team for the next eight years. Coach Blount has been an active member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches for the past decade and is a lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated. A native of Ahoskie, NC he and his wife Freya Faulon Blount are the proud parents of two daughters, Cindi and Zebrena, both graduates of Elizabeth City State University. |
