ECSU first baseman Nick Johnson headlines the 2008 All-CIAA Baseball team as one of three three-time honorees. The Vikings placed five players on this year's squad.
 
 
ECSU PLACES SIX ON ALL-CIAA FIRST, SECOND TEAMS

HAMPTON, VA- Six members of the Elizabeth City State baseball team have been named to the 2008 All-CIAA Team as voted by the CIAA Baseball Coaches Association.

Leading the way is three time All-CIAA honoree Nick Johnson. This season Johnson leads the team in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, RBIs and total bases. In the CIAA he is tied at first in home runs with 8 and tops the league in total bases with 89. Joining Johnson on the first team is his infield teammate, second baseman Dusty Todd. Todd ranks third on the team in putouts and batting average and ranks in the top 20 in the CIAA for individual batting.

On the All-CIAA second team are outfielders J.J. House and Brandon Cotton while pitchers Styron Barfield and Deshaun Fletcher round out the All-CIAA honorees for ECSU.

The 2008 All-Conference Team will be recognized at the Baseball Social on Wednesday in Petersburg. The 2008 CIAA Baseball Tournament will begin on Thursday at 10:00am on the campus of Virginia State University. For more information on the 2008 Spring Sports Championships, visit www.theciaa.com.
