ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Saint Augustine's University captured the first two of a four game series over Elizabeth City State University 3-1 and 11-0 Saturday afternoon at Knobbs Creek Park.

The Falcons needed to capture only two games this weekend to qualify for next week's CIAA Baseball Tournament in Petersburg, VA. SAU has now locked up the final seed of the four team tournament set to take place April 17-20 on the campus of Virginia State University.

On the other side the Vikings will wrap up their regular season tomorrow with last two games of the weekend series beginning at 1pm at Knobbs Creek in Elizabeth City.

Defense set the tone in Saturday's opener, a game where the Vikings clung to a 1-0 lead through four complete innings. The Falcons then got life after ground out to third base which tied the game 1-1. Then a two RBI double by Clarence Peace put the Falcons in front for good, accounting for the game's final score 3-1.

In the nightcap SAU fired on all cylinders from the beginning and went on to score in their half of each inning. Falcon pitcher Bryan Rivera allowed only 5 hits in the shutout and struck out an impressive 16 of 28 batters faced.

ECSU (7-29, CIAA 4-14) will conclude the 2014 season with a doubleheader against Saint Augustine's beginning at 1pm. Follow on Twitter @ECSUVikings and visit for more information.
