COLUMBIA, SC- The Elizabeth City State University baseball team concluded a three game road trip with a 8-5 victory over Benedict College Thursday afternoon.

Robert Krehel came in after two compete with the score tied 2-2 and pitched the remaining seven innings to earn his first win of the year. Of 28 batters faced he allowed four hits, striking out six.

The Tigers (11-12) went ahead 5-4 after scoring three runs in their half of the fifth inning. After both teams went scoreless in the sixth, Derrick Harvey began the top of the order for ECSU with a double down the left field line. Harvey would score when Andre Perkins reached on a throwing error by the short stop.

With Perkins and Corey Williams (walked) on third and first respectively, a sacrifice bunt by Daniel Graham followed by an RBSI single from Gerald Weaver cleared the bases putting ECSU in front for good.

Williams had a RBI double in the top of the ninth for the final point spread. The Tigers had four errors against their four hits on the afternoon.

ECSU (3-9, CIAA 0-4) will host Chowan University this weekend for a four-game home stand. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday.
