EXTRA INNING HEROICS LIFT VIKINGS PAST VOORHEES 8-7

DENMARK, SC- Kermit Jackson's sacrifice fly to center field gave the Vikings the go ahead run as Elizabeth City State edged Voorhees College 8-7 in 10 innings Tuesday afternoon. The sac fly, his first of the 2010 season, scored Khatim Butler from third base to break a 7-7 tie. The 10th inning's lead-off man, Butler drew a walk from Tiger reliever Maurice Ransom to reach first base. He then proceeded to steal both second and third to set up Jackson's winning sacrifice. Jackson finished the day with 2 doubles and three RBI. The Vikings held a 7-2 lead through 9 ½ innings before the Tigers (3-14) mustered a five run rally to send the game to the tenth.
