CHARLOTTE, NC- Two members of the Elizabeth City State University women’s cross country team have been recognized on the CIAA’s weekly honor roll.

Freshman Dara Drury has been named the CIAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week while Myra Blow has been tabbed as the Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Week.

This represents the first time in school history that the cross country program has been recognized by the conference office.

Dara Drury, a freshman who hails from Elizabeth City, NC, finished in third place at the Bowie State Homecoming Challenge held on October 7th. Her third place finish is the best of any women’s runner in ECSU history as she ran the 5K meet in 23:51.2. The Lady Vikings finished in first place with an overall team score of 27.

Now in her third season at the helm of the ECSU Cross Country programs, Myra Blow earns her first CIAA Coach of the Week honor. The Lady Vikings’ one point win at the BSU Homecoming Challenge was historic as it represents the first team win (men or women) in ECSU history.

The teams will wrap up their seasons on Thursday October 29th at the CIAA Championships in Cary, NC. Visit www.ecsuvikings.com for more information and follow us on Twitter @ECSUVikings.
