ECSU Athletics to Host a CIAA Diversity and Inclusion Workshop

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – The Elizabeth City State University Division of Athletics will host a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Diversity and Inclusion workshop here on campus Tuesday, April 25 beginning 10 a.m. in the Ridley Student Center. Guest speaker for the event is Ms. Nevin Caple, Strategic Diversity Consultant, LGBT SportSafe.

During the day, Ms. Caple will meet with Coaches and Athletic Administrators for the first 90 minutes to two-hours; then meet with just the administrative staff for 45 minutes; next meet with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and team captains; and last meet with the University’s Chancellor.

The LGBT SportSafe Inclusion Program was developed to create an infrastructure for athletic administrators, coaches and recreational sports leaders to support LGBTQ inclusion in college and professional sports. LGBT SportSafe launched in partnership with University of Oregon, Northwestern University and University of Nebraska. Using a new framework, the 3-Peat Model helps administration follow 3-step plan to champion a culture of respect and inclusion. Membership benefits include:
